Christos Koutsoukos, born in Athens in 1981, is a painter whose work is deeply rooted in his Greek heritage. His art focuses on the expressive power of color and its interaction with archetypal human forms. In his series "Bombs," Koutsoukos presents childlike figures in the playful act of diving, capturing a carefree moment reminiscent of summer. This series began in 2017, inspired by a striking image he saw during the Syrian war of a young boy who survived a bombing, his face etched with fear and numbness. This moving image sparked the idea for a series reminding viewers that children should only experience the joy of "bombs" they create as they play in the sea. Over time, Koutsoukos’ art has evolved, becoming a celebration of color and the spirit of Greek summer, exploring increasingly abstract forms to capture the joy and freedom of youth.
